With roots in the Mississippi Delta, Chicago, and the Piedmont of Virginia, Richmond-based guitarist and songwriter Justin Golden’s origins are deeply vested in the blues. First picking up the guitar at age 19, Golden did what came naturally and let the music flow through him. With an extremely diverse musical palette, Golden aims to bring some new ideas to traditional blues forms. In addition to his work as a recording and performing artist, Golden maintains a busy teaching schedule and works with the non-profit The Rhapsody Project (he is the founder of the Richmond VA chapter) to provide community enrichment through anti-racist cultural heritage programs.
In the past year, Justin has released two full albums (Golden Country /Vol I and Golden Country Vol 2, which Bandcamp featured on Their Best Country Music highlight), performed at FloydFest, Bristol Rhythm & Roots, NC Folk Festival, and toured with Willi Carlisle Including a show at Levon Helm’s studio), He was also an official AMERICANAFEST Showcase artist this year with two performances: First was a songwriter round at the National Museum of African American Music, followed by his performance at Station Inn (opening for Swamp Dogg). Justin Golden and The Devil's Coattails will be releasing 'Golden Country Vol 3' in early 2025
Opening the show is Lillian Hackett, an emerging singer-songwriter from Lovettsville, VA. Her deep appreciation for music started at a young age as she was immersed in a vibrant music scene within her community. Weekends spent attending barn dances, folk festivals, and bonfire jams enriched her musical style and exposed her to the heritage of old-time and bluegrass music. Often described as an Appalachian Stevie Nicks or distant cousin of Sierra Ferrell, Lillian has a natural inclination toward Folk/Americana music as she skillfully weaves a soulful and authentic musical experience. Aired on the national televised singing competition, American Idol, Lillian returned from Hollywood aiming to grow not only as a musician but specifically as a storyteller.
