One of Richmond's most innovative quintets presents an evening of unconventional, abstract sonic soul.

amminal is a five-piece ensemble based around the songs of guitarist and singer Philip Murphy. They play spacey, pastoral folk and psychedelic rock songs about witches, moths, nature, humans, sleep and sleeplessness. The band features Pippin Barnett (drums), Adam Hopkins (upright bass), Stephen Williams (guitar, vocals), and Bryan Hoffa (guitar, synth, banjo, vocals).

With a six-song EP recorded and mixed by John Morand at Sound of Music Studios released in early 2024, the group continues to refine their mercurial sound, incorporating diverse elements from the folk music of the US and the British Isles, post-rock, Turkish music, jazz, and any of the birds that sing outside of the garage where the band rehearses.
