All-star quartet with Daniel Clarke on piano, 10 years world touring with k.d. Lang; Paul Langosh on bass, 20 years world touring with Tony Bennett; Chris Whiteman on guitar, touring artist with Veronica Swift and well-known Richmond guitarist for over 20 years; and Robert Jospé on drums, music educator at UVA for 31 years, band leader for 28 years with the Virginia Commission for the Arts with eight albums.
Robert Jospé was inspired by his Belgian parents love of music and began playing the drums at fourteen. He had his first professional performance in France at the age of sixteen. While attending the Cambridge School of Weston in Weston, Massachusetts, Jospé enrolled in the Berklee College of Music summer session and began formal training on drums. Upon graduating from the Cambridge School, Jospé moved to New York City to attend New York University. Over the next twelve years he became an active player in the New York jazz and rock scene as well as co-leader of the fusion band Cosmology.
Jospé studied with Tony Williams and Bob Moses and performed with Michael Brecker, Dave Liebman, John Schofield and John Abercrombie. Throughout his career Jospé has played and recorded with many bands and in many musical styles including Tim Reynolds and TR3, (rock/reggae/fusion), John McCutcheon and SGGL, (folk rock), Robin and Linda Williams, (folk) with the John D’earth Quartet, the Jeff Decker Quartet with pianist Hod O’Brien and Royce Campbell (straight ahead jazz), Heather Maxwell (soul and Afro-Pop), and with Tony Bennett.
Daniel Clarke is a multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer/teacher born and raised in Richmond, VA. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Jazz Studies program, Daniel has anchored Richmond-based groups such as Modern Groove Syndicate, the Devil’s Workshop Big Band and Neighborliness, and has gone on to perform and record all over the world. His playing has been heard everywhere from the White House to the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Daniel’s eclectic and prodigious musicianship can’t be contained by one specific genre. His ear for quality has made him a sought after collaborator by artists such as k.d. lang, Ryan Adams, The War on Drugs, Mandy Moore, Jason Mraz, René Marie, and countless others spanning all genres.
Chris Whiteman's expertise and deep passion for music led him to join the esteemed faculty at the University of Miami as a full-time lecturer in the Frost School of Music. In 2006, he even assumed the role of Acting Director of the jazz guitar program, further solidifying his experience in music education. He currently teaches at The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Throughout his career, Chris has graced stages across the United States and Europe, captivating audiences with his remarkable guitar skills and magnetic performances. Collaborating with Grammy-winning artists and producers, Chris has garnered extensive recognition. He has also ventured into composing music for films and serves as a signature artist arranger for Musicnotes.com, the world's leading platform for digital sheet music. His meticulous and innovative arrangements have garnered acclaim, firmly establishing his reputation as a highly skilled musician. Chris serves as the musical director for Wyatt Michael, a talented artist who gained prominence as a finalist on NBC's "The Voice" Season 21. From 2021 to 2023, Chris toured with jazz vocal sensation Veronica Swift, showcasing his versatility and becoming a sought-after sideman. Chris teaches privately to students worldwide, including four-time Grammy Award winner D’Angelo.
Paul Langosch began his studies on the double bass in 1969 with Albert Webster of the National Symphony and later continued private lessons with William Vaughn, also of the National Symphony. He began his college studies at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD, later attending American University in Washington, DC and the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. Paul has worked with many of the leaders in the jazz world including: Phil Woods, Tal Farlow, Al Cohn, Mose Allison, Johnny Hartman, Bud Shank, Zoot Sims, Barney Kessel and Herb Ellis. Paul’s touring credits include tours with Jon Hendricks, George Shearing, Rosemary Clooney, Mel Torme, Susanna McCorkle and Conte Candoli. In 1985 Paul was invited by Tony Bennett to become a permanent member of his trio. His association with Mr. Bennett lasted over 20 years.
